Iron Bound Safety is committed to making our website usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. This statement describes the standards we hold ourselves to and how to reach us if something isn’t working.
Our Commitment
Iron Bound Safety believes a store that protects workers on the jobsite should also be usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We are committed to providing a website that meets modern accessibility standards and to improving continuously.
Standards We Follow
We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) as our primary reference. We also consider:
- Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act
- The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title III
- EN 301 549 for European customers
- Relevant state and provincial regulations
Accessibility Features
Keyboard and focus
- All interactive elements are reachable by keyboard.
- Visible focus rings throughout the site.
- Skip link jumps past the header to main content.
Screen readers and semantics
- Semantic HTML landmarks (header, nav, main, footer).
- Descriptive alt text on product imagery.
- ARIA labels on icon-only buttons (search, cart, account).
Color and contrast
- Body text meets WCAG AA contrast against background colors.
- Critical states never rely on color alone.
- Respects the user’s operating-system color preferences where available.
Motion and media
- Honors
prefers-reduced-motionto minimize animation. - No auto-playing sound. Videos include captions and transcripts.
Ongoing Work
Accessibility is not a finish line. We audit new features manually and with automated tooling, partner with people who use assistive technology, and train our team on inclusive patterns. When we find gaps we log and prioritize fixes the same way we handle other production issues.
Known Issues
We are aware of the following issues and are working to resolve them:
- Some third-party embeds (shipping rate calculators, live chat) may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We are working with the vendors to improve them.
- Older product photography lacks descriptive alt text in a handful of cases. New imagery is authored with alt text from day one.
If you encounter an issue we have not listed, please let us know — see below.
